WordPress is a great piece of software that can be used to quickly create a web presence. Wordpress is an open source content management system created initially for blogging, and being open-source, it is free to download and install! WordPress has since developed into sophisticated web software for creating attractive and highly customisable websites. There are some free templates that can be used to get you started, but we recommend using a “Framework”, that has inbuilt SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and Security, known as the StudioPress Genesis Theme Framework. To get you up and running, you must first register a domain name and then you need access to a web server to install WordPress. Once WordPress is installed you can access the Admin area from your web browser and start adding content and images to market your business.
Studiopress have recently released The Introductory Guide to the Genesis Design Framework for WordPress, which is a fantastic resource to help people effectively put Genesis to work for them. It’s a 44-page resource suitable for anyone who has an understanding of WordPress. It covers everything, from the beginner level to expert issues and this guide can help anyone who is considering the Genesis Framework to get their site looking and performing exactly the way they want it.

Studiopress have created a number of professional themes that plug into their Genesis Framework and you can look at these by clicking on the above banner. This means that for a relatively small investment you can create a professional looking website at minimal cost. If you can’t find a theme that suits your style, you can always have one built to your exact requirements, but this obviously costs more.
We recommend the services of our hosting provider TerraNetwork, who provide a range of packages starting with the small through to the more sophisticated multi-domain requirements and web shops, to quickly get you up and running with your web presence.
Software we work with
WorkflowMax is end-to-end workflow management software that helps you create quotes or estimates, convert them into a job, track time and costs against the job, so you can instantly see how profitable the job was. Purchase orders and sales invoices can also be created in WorkflowMax and link to Xero for an integrated workflow management and accounting solution. You can add a Lead Manager module to record your leads and conversions and see their progress in the graphical dashboard.
Sage 50 Accounts and Sage’s associated products should be on everybody’s list of potential accounting software solutions simply because they’ve been built for the UK market and have been around for over 25 years. During this period a number of ‘Additions’ have been built by independent software vendors to extend the appeal of Sage to a wider market. Businesses that outgrow Sage 50 have a clear migration path to the more sophisticated Sage 200, but it’s always worth taking time to consider your options given the enormity of the decision. All-in-all Sage has the UK SME market covered.
